When you can't make it to class, you MUST take the time to review the video, the choreography charts, the footwork, etc. BEFORE you come back to the next choreography class.

The less time we spend reviewing, the more time we have to move on.

2018 Champ/Advanced Grades Recital Choreography

Saturday, June 2nd rehearsal

Ladies, we did it! Obviously we'll all have to wait for the official video to see the final product with costumes and lighting, but I thought you all might enjoy watching the final runthrough of the dance with all 37 dancers in it.
And I have to tell you all, I have loved this whole project; from choreographing the dance, to setting up this webpage, ordering costumes and blinging costumes; it's been a great adventure and I was so proud of all of you on Saturday!! Thanks, and have a wonderful summer :)

Video: final onstage rehearsal

Sunday/Monday, May 27-28

It's getting real now, everyone! Excited to be in the home stretch, what an awesome two days of rehearsals we've had-- thanks to everyone who was able to make it.
So Sunday afternoon, we worked through the transition from the 5th set of eight into the 6th. The 4th set of eight is the instrumental section when Erin and Molly start dancing, and the 5th set of eight is when Katie jumps in (that set of 8 is actually 10 bars). The sixth then begins with Katie breaking out of her circle, followed by several batter sequences, as you can see in the video here:
Monday was even better because we had so many more people, and we not only got them all up to speed through the 7th set of eight, but we moved on into the 8th set of eight, which mainly consists of circling around the little guys. If you weren't here Monday, you're not in a circle, except for Nina, who was already onstage. Here's a video from the center front:
We built onto this piece little by little, adding the circle in the center and moving Katie into the center. Here's a video from the side corner:
And we are nearly at the end!!! This is a video from the lunge before the instrumental section all the way through the end of the dance. Still needs tweaking, but I held that last video extra long to prove that we are finished :)
What's supposed to happen is that the whole thing is tapering off once the children are confirmed trapped, which is where they all are after the circles. They make one last desperate lunge for freedom, and then as a few statues enter to circle around the others, each of the girls circles with a statue only to find that she is still trapped. Good stuff. Enjoy:
On Sunday we tried several of the dresses on and actually ran through the dance with everyone in some sort of dress, which was, in a word,  AWESOME. About 20 more dresses came today, so if you weren't here, we have a dress for you.

Parents are hopefully going to help with some bling tomorrow night, and you are all going to look amazing, I can't wait!

Wednesday/Thursday, May 23-24

Wednesday we finished the footwork and traffic pattern through the end of the instrumental section, which is the 4th set of 8 and the 5th set of 8 (actually 10 bars). PLEASE listen to the music while you check out the charts below to familiarize yourself with the song. It will really help.
Here's are 3 videos:
1) the lunge through the 5th set of 8, bar 10
2) a video of Caroline and Miranda doing the new footwork
3) a video from Thurs from the first set of 8 through the 5th
For the updated chart of traffic patterns and the footwork written out by group, jump to the 5th set of 8 section.
